Validation of assumptions on the endolymph motion inside the semicircular canals of the inner ear
(2012)Internal Reports of the Institute of Fluid Dynamics, ETH ZurichIn this work we investigate the validity of the following assumptions that were used in previous studies of the endolymph motion within the semicircular canals of the inner ear: (a) quasi-steadiness and therefore exclusion of the time derivative, (b) absence of advection, (c) insignicance of Coriolis and centrifugal forces. A parameter study is performed using the C++ based OpenFOAM® software library for nu- merical simulations on a nite ...Report -

Irreversibility and optimal timing of climate policy
(2010)IED working paperWe focus on the optimal timing of climate change mitigation policies, a decision which is complicated by multiple sources of irreversibility or inertia. The pertinence of Real Option Theory in understanding the optimal amount of necessary precautionary behavior is explored, as are the results from modeling exercises.<br/>Generally, it appears that irreversibility associated with sunk abatement capital is stronger than that from accumulating ...Working Paper
