Search for resonances in the dijet mass spectrum from 7 TeV pp collisions at CMS
(2011)Physics Letters BA search for narrow resonances with a mass of at least 1 TeV in the dijet mass spectrum is performed using pp collisions at s=7TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1 fb-1, collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC. No resonances are observed. Upper limits at the 95% confidence level are presented on the product of the resonance cross section, branching fraction into dijets, and acceptance, separately for decays into quark-quark, ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the Drell-Yan cross section in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV
(2011)Journal of High Energy PhysicsThe Drell-Yan differential cross section is measured in pp collisions at s√=7 TeV, from a data sample collected with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb−1. The cross section measurement, normalized to the measured cross section in the Z region, is reported for both the dimuon and dielectron channels in the dilepton invariant mass range 15–600 GeV. The normalized cross section values are quoted ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the inclusive W and Z production cross sections in pp collisions at root s = 7 TeV with the CMS experiment
(2011)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA measurement of inclusive W and Z production cross sections in pp collisions at s√=7 TeV is presented. The electron and muon decay channels are analyzed in a data sample collected with the CMS detector at the LHC and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb−1. The measured inclusive cross sections are σ(pp → WX) × B(W→ℓν) = 10.31 ± 0.02 (stat.) ± 0.09 (syst.) ± 0.10 (th.) ± 0.41 (lumi.) nb and σ(pp → ZX) × B(Z→ℓ+ℓ−) = 0.974 ± 0.007 ...Journal Article -
Search for first generation scalar leptoquarks in the eνjj channel in pp collisions at √ s = 7 TeV
(2011)Physics Letters BA search for pair-production of first generation scalar leptoquarks is performed in the final state containing an electron, a neutrino, and at least two jets using proton-proton collision data at √s=7 TeV. The data were collected by the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb-1. The number of observed events is in good agreement with the predictions for standard model processes. Prior CMS results in the ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the t¯t production cross section in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV using the kinematic properties of events with leptons and jets
(2011)The European Physical Journal CA measurement of the tt¯ production cross section in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV has been performed at the LHC with the CMS detector. The analysis uses a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb−1 and is based on the reconstruction of the final state with one isolated, high transverse-momentum electron or muon and three or more hadronic jets. The kinematic properties of the events are ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the Bs0 Production Cross Section with Bs0→J/ψϕ Decays in pp Collisions at √s=7 TeV
(2011)Physical Review DThe B0s differential production cross section is measured as functions of the transverse momentum and rapidity in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV, using the B0s→J/ψϕ decay, and compared with predictions based on perturbative QCD calculations at next-to-leading order. The data sample, collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC, corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 40 pb−1. The B0s is reconstructed from the decays J/ψ→μ+μ− and ϕ→K+K−. The ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the differential cross section for isolated prompt photon production in pp collisions at 7 TeV
(2011)Physical Review DA measurement of the differential cross section for the inclusive production of isolated prompt photons in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV is presented. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb−1 recorded by the CMS detector at the LHC. The measurement covers the pseudorapidity range |η|<2.5 and the transverse energy range 25<ET<400 GeV, corresponding to the kinematic region 0.007<xT<0.114. ...Journal Article -
Search for Three-Jet Resonances in pp Collisions at √s=7 TeVV
(2011)Physical Review LettersA search for three-jet hadronic resonance production in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV has been conducted by the CMS Collaboration at the LHC, using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35 pb−1. Events with high jet multiplicity and a large scalar sum of jet transverse momenta are analyzed using a signature-based approach. The number of expected standard model background events is found to be in ...Journal Article -
Search for new physics with jets and missing transverse momentum in pp collisions at s√=7 TeV
(2011)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search for new physics is presented based on an event signature of at least three jets accompanied by large missing transverse momentum, using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb−1 collected in proton-proton collisions at s√=7 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC. No excess of events is observed above the expected standard model backgrounds, which are all estimated from the data. Exclusion limits are presented ...Journal Article -
Search for same-sign top-quark pair production at √s=7 TeV and limits on flavour changing neutral currents in the top sector
(2011)Journal of High Energy PhysicsAn inclusive search for same-sign top-quark pair production in pp collisions at s√=7 TeV is performed using a data sample recorded with the CMS detector in 2010, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35 pb−1. This analysis is motivated by recent studies of pp¯→tt¯ reporting mass-dependent forward-backward asymmetries larger than expected from the standard model. These asymmetries could be due to Flavor Changing Neutral Currents ...Journal Article
