Search for physics beyond the standard model in top quark production with additional leptons in the context of effective field theory
(2023)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search for new physics in top quark production with additional fnal-state leptons is performed using data collected by the CMS experiment in proton-proton collisions at √ s = 13 TeV at the LHC during 2016–2018. The data set corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb−1 . Using the framework of efective feld theory (EFT), potential new physics efects are parametrized in terms of 26 dimension-six EFT operators. The impacts of EFT ...Journal Article -
Search for resonances in events with photon and jet final states in proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV
(2023)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search for resonances in events with the γ+jet final state has been performed using proton-proton collision data collected at √s = 13 TeV by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The total data analyzed correspond to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb−1. Models of excited quarks and quantum black holes are considered. Using a wide-jet reconstruction for the candidate jet, the γ+jet invariant mass spectrum measured in data is examined for the ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the cross section of top quark-antiquark pair production in association with a W boson in proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV
(2023)Journal of High Energy PhysicsThe production of a top quark-antiquark pair in association with a W boson (t (t) over barW) is measured in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13TeV. The analyzed data was recorded by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb(-1). Events with two or three leptons (electrons and muons) and additional jets are selected. In events with two leptons, a multiclass neural network ...Journal Article -
Measurement of inclusive and differential cross sections for single top quark production in association with a W boson in proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV
(2023)Journal of High Energy PhysicsMeasurements of the inclusive and normalised differential cross sections are presented for the production of single top quarks in association with a W boson in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The data used were recorded with the CMS detector at the LHC during 2016–2018, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb⁻¹. Events containing one electron and one muon in the final state are analysed. For the ...Journal Article -
Search for new particles in an extended Higgs sector with four b quarks in the final state at √s = 13 TeV
(2022)Physics Letters BA search for a massive resonance X decaying to a pair of spin-0 bosons ϕ that themselves decay to pairs of bottom quarks, is presented. The analysis is restricted to the mass ranges mϕ from 25 to 100 GeV and mX from 1 to 3 TeV. For these mass ranges, the decay products of each ϕ boson are expected to merge into a single large-radius jet. Jet substructure and flavor identification techniques are used to identify these jets. The search is ...Journal Article -

Measurements of the associated production of a W boson and a charm quark in proton–proton collisions at √s = 8 TeV
(2022)The European Physical Journal CMeasurements of the associated production of a W boson and a charm (c) quark in proton–proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8TeV are reported. The analysis uses a data sample corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 19.7fb−1 collected by the CMS detector at the LHC. The W bosons are identified through their leptonic decays to an electron or a muon, and a neutrino. Charm quark jets are selected using distinctive signatures ...Journal Article -

Measurement of the Higgs boson width and evidence of its off-shell contributions to ZZ production
(2022)Nature PhysicsSince the discovery of the Higgs boson in 2012, detailed studies of its properties have been ongoing. Besides its mass, its width-related to its lifetime-is an important parameter. One way to determine this quantity is to measure its off-shell production, where the Higgs boson mass is far away from its nominal value, and relating it to its on-shell production, where the mass is close to the nominal value. Here we report evidence for such ...Journal Article -
