Measurement of the top quark mass in the all-jets final state at √s=13TeV and combination with the lepton+jets channel
(2019)The European Physical Journal CA top quark mass measurement is performed using 35.9fb−1 of LHC proton–proton collision data collected with the CMS detector at s√=13TeV. The measurement uses the tt¯ all-jets final state. A kinematic fit is performed to reconstruct the decay of the tt¯ system and suppress the multijet background. Using the ideogram method, the top quark mass (mt) is determined, simultaneously constraining an additional jet energy scale factor (JSF). The ...Journal Article -
Search for contact interactions and large extra dimensions in the dilepton mass spectra from proton-proton collisions at √s=13 TeV
(2019)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search for nonresonant excesses in the invariant mass spectra of electron and muon pairs is presented. The analysis is based on data from proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV recorded by the CMS experiment in 2016, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 36 fb−1. No significant deviation from the standard model is observed. Limits are set at 95% confidence level on energy scales for two general classes ...Journal Article -
Measurements of the pp → WZ inclusive and differential production cross sections and constraints on charged anomalous triple gauge couplings at √s = 13 TeV
(2019)Journal of High Energy PhysicsThe WZ production cross section is measured in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy s√ = 13 TeV using data collected with the CMS detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb−1. The inclusive cross section is measured to be σtot(pp → WZ) = 48.09 − 0.96 + 1.00 (stat) − 0.37 + 0.44 (theo) − 2.17 + 2.39 (syst) ± 1.39(lum) pb, resulting in a total uncertainty of −2.78/+2.98 pb. Fiducial cross section and ratios ...Journal Article -
Search for excited leptons in ℓℓγ final states in proton-proton collisions at √s=13 TeV
(2019)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search is presented for excited electrons and muons in ℓℓγ final states at the LHC. The search is based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb−1 of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, collected with the CMS detector in 2016. This is the first search for excited leptons at s√ = 13 TeV. The observation is consistent with the standard model background prediction, and the most stringent ...Journal Article -
Search for resonant t t ¯ production in proton-proton collisions at √s=13 TeV
(2019)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search for a heavy resonance decaying into a top quark and antiquark (tt¯) pair is performed using proton-proton collisions at s√=13 TeV. The search uses the data set collected with the CMS detector in 2016, which corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb−1. The analysis considers three exclusive final states and uses reconstruction techniques that are optimized for top quarks with high Lorentz boosts, which requires the use ...Journal Article -
Search for nonresonant Higgs boson pair production in the b b ¯ b b ¯ final state at √s = 13 TeV
(2019)Journal of High Energy PhysicsResults of a search for nonresonant production of Higgs boson pairs, with each Higgs boson decaying to a bb¯¯¯ pair, are presented. This search uses data from proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb−1, collected by the CMS detector at the LHC. No signal is observed, and a 95% confidence level upper limit of 847 fb is set on the cross section for standard model ...Journal Article -
Combination of Searches for Higgs Boson Pair Production in Proton-Proton Collisions at s =13 TeV
(2019)Physical Review LettersThis Letter describes a search for Higgs boson pair production using the combined results from four final states: bbγγ, bbττ, bbbb, and bbVV, where V represents a W or Z boson. The search is performed using data collected in 2016 by the CMS experiment from LHC proton-proton collisions at √s=13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb−1. Limits are set on the Higgs boson pair production cross section. A 95% confidence ...Journal Article -
Measurement of prompt ψ(2S) production cross sections in proton–lead and proton–proton collisions at √sNN =5.02TeV
(2019)Physics Letters, Section B: Nuclear, Elementary Particle and High-Energy PhysicsMeasurements of prompt ψ(2S) meson production cross sections in proton–lead (pPb) and proton–proton (pp) collisions at a nucleon–nucleon center-of-mass energy of √sNN =5.02TeV are reported. The results are based on pPb and pp data collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 34.6nb−1 and 28.0pb-1, respectively. The nuclear modification factor RpPb is measured for prompt ψ(2S) in the transverse ...Journal Article -
Measurement of nuclear modification factors of ϒ(1S), ϒ(2S), and ϒ(3S) mesons in PbPb collision at √s NN = 5.02 TeV
(2019)Physics Letters BThe cross sections for ϒ(1S), ϒ(2S), and ϒ(3S) production in lead–lead (PbPb) and proton–proton (pp) collisions at √s NN = 5.02 TeV have been measured using the CMS detector at the LHC. The nuclear modification factors, RAA, derived from the PbPb-to-pp ratio of yields for each state, are studied as functions of meson rapidity and transverse momentum, as well as PbPb collision centrality. The yields of all three states are found to be ...Journal Article -
