Characterizing Carrier Envelope Frequency Correlation from a Polarization Multiplexed Free Running Single-Cavity Dual-Comb Laser
(2023)OSA Technical Digest ~ Laser Congress 2023Using a single f-2f interferometer, we measure the correlation between the carrier-envelope offset frequencies of the two combs generated in a polarization-multiplexed dual-comb laser. Noise is suppressed by 20 dB via the shared cavity architecture.Other Conference Item -
Modelocked thin-disk laser oscillator providing more than 400 W average output power with a replicating cavity design
(2023)OSA Technical Digest ~ Laser Congress 2023We demonstrate an ultrafast thin-disk laser oscillator providing 410 W average power with a pulse duration of 751 fs at a repetition rate of 7.77 MHz. This is enabled by a replicating cavity scheme and sapphire SESAMs.Other Conference Item -
Modelocked solid-state Yb:YAG laser oscillator with gigahertz repetition rate at 2-W average output power
(2023)OSA Technical Digest ~ Laser Congress 2023We present a modelocked Yb:YAG laser oscillator providing 760 fs pulses at 1.09 GHz repetition rate delivering 2 W of average power. This constitutes the first gigahertz repetition-rate solid-state laser at 1030 nm.Other Conference Item -
Breakdown of the single-collision condition in gas-phase high harmonic generation
(2023)2023 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe & European Quantum Electronics Conference (CLEO/Europe-EQEC)For high-harmonic generation (HHG) in atomic gases the liberated photoelectrons and their parent ions are usually treated as systems that are isolated from neighbouring atoms. Here, we show theoretically and experimentally that collisions with neighbouring atoms can have a significant impact on HHG, especially in the soft x-rays. These additional collisions negatively affect the HHG flux and the coherence of the emitted radiation. Using ...Other Conference Item -
Single-cavity dual-comb 2.36-µm Cr:ZnS laser
(2023)2023 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe & European Quantum Electronics Conference (CLEO/Europe-EQEC)Dual optical frequency combs have received increasing attention in recent years as they can be used in many applications involving a delay scan between the two pulse trains and dual-comb spectroscopy (DCS) [1]. For DCS there is interest in generating long-wavelength sources to access the molecular fingerprint region where many molecules have numerous absorption lines. Modelocked Cr:ZnS(e) laser sources are a promising route since they can ...Other Conference Item -
2.04-µm single and dual-comb modelocked InGaSb-MIXSEL
(2023)2023 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe & European Quantum Electronics Conference (CLEO/Europe-EQEC)Passively modelocked, optically pumped semiconductor disk lasers also referred to as VECSELs or MIXSELs combine the wavelength versatility and wafer scalability of semiconductors, together with a high beam quality of vertical emitters and a good average output power [1, 2]. Typically, a V-shaped cavity is used for SESAM-modelocked VECSELs. This is simplified to a straight linear cavity with MIXSELs, for which the SESAM is integrated into ...Other Conference Item -
Single-cavity dual-comb Yb:YAG laser operating at 250 MHz with ultra-low noise
(2023)2023 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe & European Quantum Electronics Conference (CLEO/Europe-EQEC)Combining a pair of modelocked lasers to obtain a dual optical frequency comb enables many applications such as high-resolution spectroscopy [1]. However, implementing this technology can be difficult, as it requires two highly coherent combs. Here we report a new dual-comb laser based on spatial multiplexing [2], which delivers two pulse trains directly from a single laser cavity with ultra-low relative noise properties.Other Conference Item -
High-sensitivity coherent dual-comb spectroscopy with single-cavity dual-comb OPO operating at 250 MHz
(2023)2023 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe & European Quantum Electronics Conference (CLEO/Europe-EQEC)Dual optical frequency combs, consisting of a pair of modelocked lasers with a slight difference in their pulse repetition rate, are valuable tools for high-resolution infrared spectroscopy. Heterodyne mixing of the two combs down-converts the optical comb lines to the radio frequency domain, allowing for straightforward comb-line-resolved measurements with a single photodiode [1]. Practical deployment of this technology faces significant ...Other Conference Item -
Ultrafast transition from state-blocking dynamics to electron localization in transition metal β-Tungsten
(2023)2023 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe & European Quantum Electronics Conference (CLEO/Europe-EQEC)Previous Attosecond Transient Absorption Spectroscopy studies on the transition metal Titanium and transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) MoTe2 and MoSe2 have revealed element specific screening and state-blocking dynamics on ultrafast timescales after excitation by a femtosecond NIR pump pulse [1]–[3]. For Titanium the response followed the pump fluence and was dominated by the localization of the excited electron population into its ...Other Conference Item -
High-resolution LiDAR and spectroscopy enabled by coherent sensing with single-cavity dual-comb laser
(2023)Proceedings of SPIE ~ Photonic Instrumentation Engineering XWe demonstrate a system for high-precision, high-resolution and long-range LiDAR measurements using dual optical frequency combs. The system uses a new type of single-cavity dual-comb solid-state laser combined with a fiber-based apparatus for detection of the light reflected by a target. The fiber setup implements heterodyne detection with the roles of the two combs interchanged, thereby using the Vernier effect to extend the ambiguity ...Other Conference Item
