Design of a high efficiency pulsed slow positron beam for measurements of porous silicon and polymer films
(2004)LAPP-EXP-2004.08; INR-HEP-2004.31This document presents the design of a pulsed slow positron beam to study porous silicon and polymer films. Slow positrons are produced with a conven- tional technique using a ^22Na source and a tungsten film moderator. The goal of the proposed design is to reach a pulse duration of 0.3 ns FWHM at the target. The scheme of the beam includes two choppers and two bunchers. The distinctive features of the proposed design lie ...Report -

On a conjectured increasing series
(2004)Research ReportThe rate of total heat loss of two bodies maintained at constant temperature in a homogeneous conducting medium of low temperature is a function of the distance between the two bodies. Assuming spherical bodies with equal temperatures, this function has been explicitly computed in [4] and its monotonic increase has been verified numerically. In this note we give a rigorous completely elementary proof of this fact, and thus ...Report -

Analysis of a dual-primal FETI algorithm for edge elements on boundary layer meshes in two dimensions
(2004)Research ReportFETI methods are among the most heavily tested domain decomposition methods. The purpose of this thesis is to analyze a dual-primal FETI method for edge element approximations in two dimensions on geometrically refined meshes. These meshes are highly anisotropic, where the aspect ratio grows exponentially with the polynomial degree. The primal constraints are here averages over subdomain edges. We prove that the condition ...Report -
Implementation of a Runtime Environment for Reconfigurable Hardware Operating Systems
(2004)TIK ReportWe present a runtime environment that partially reconfigures and executes hardware tasks on Xilinx Virtex. To that end, the FPGA’s reconfigurable surface is split into a varying number of variable-sized vertical task slots that can accommodate the hardware tasks. A bus-based communication infrastructure allows for task communication and I/O. We discuss the design of the runtime system and its prototype implementation on an reconfigurable ...Report -
Usage and Management of Collections of References
(2004)TIK ReportCollections of references are an important part of scientific and scholarly work. For many people, collections of references are the most advanced form of formal knowledge representation they are using. However, today's standards and tools for collections of references are pretty poor, providing closed environments with no or little extension mechanisms. In this paper, we describe our goal to design and implement an advanced system for ...Report
