Other Publication -
Earthquake location accuracy
(2010)Community Online Resource for Statistical Seismicity AnalysisEarthquake location catalogs are not an exact representation of the true earthquake locations. They contain random error, for example from errors in the arrival time picks, as well as systematic biases. The most important source of systematic errors in earthquake locations is the inherent coupling of earthquake locations to the seismic velocity structure of the Earth. Random errors may be accounted for in formal uncertainty estimates, but ...Other Publication -

A parametrization of the anticipated evolution with delivered luminosity of the contribution to the CMS ECAL energy resolution from hadron damage to crystals
(2010)CMS Internal NoteThis note summarizes and combines existing laboratory and test beam measurements to parametrize the evolution with integrated delivered luminosity of the contribution to the CMS ECAL energy resolution, that might have to be expected over the years, due to the cumulative damage high-energy hadrons cause to lead tungstate. This parametrisation can be folded into investigations of how the ECAL performance in various physics channels might evolve.Other Publication -

European Energy: The "Solidarity" Conundrum
(2010)CSS Analyses in Security PolicyEuropean energy policy is critically flawed. It has proven impossible to square the circle between security of supply, greater sustainability, and affordable prices. Despite claims of ‘solidarity’, national politics still trumps the ‘European good’ on energy matters. Progressing liberalisation remains important for competition and resilience, but Europe’s real challenge is to re-level the low carbon technology playing field to properly ...Other Publication
