The Power of Reciprocity
(2004)In two experiments, the existence and extent of altruistic reciprocity is explored in the context of a simple experimental game, "the sequential dictator". Findings show that altruistic reciprocity is frequent and robust, and the reciprocity norm does not erode if stakes are raised. Implications of the findings for social theory further empirical research are discussed.Dataset -
Forecast based on different data types: A before and after study (Stated preference Mode choice)
(2004)Travel Survey Metadata SeriesIn addition to adequate data, the formulation of transport forecasts relies upon a knowledge of the relationships between the demand for transport and those factors which influence it. These relationships are described with mathematical functions and the their model parameters. The parameters derived from revealed preference (RP) data are often subject to too many impon-derables and are thus of only limited value in many cases. The main ...Other Research Data -
Measuring and Modelling the Reliability of the Transport Supply Experiments with Swiss Respondents
(2004)Travel Survey Metadata SeriesCurrent transport models focus mainly on the variables travel time and travel costs to explain choices made by travellers. In contrast to this, research results substantiate the influence of a range of additional explanatory variables. The reliability of the transportation system is one important example. The inclusion of those variables into the forecasting of the traveller decision requires more knowledge about their valuations. In this ...Other Research Data -
Shopping travel survey 2004
(2005)Travel Survey Metadata SeriesThe Swiss Study of value of travel time savings (VTTS), conducted by König, Axhausen und Abay (2004) has lead to unexpected high values for shopping trips, especially compared to other trip purposes. Furthermore, apart from destination choice models none information about larger shopping trips can be found in literature. Therefore, on the occasion of a diploma thesis, a study focusing only shopping travel behaviour was conducted. As in ...Other Research Data -
Mobidrive: A six week travel diary
(2004)Travel Survey Metadata SeriesThe recent shift in transport policy to emphasise travel demand management has directed the attention of transport planning research towards the dynamic processes in travel behaviour: learning and change on the one side and rhythms and routines on the other. Progress in the understanding of these processes requires data over long durations, from observation or self- reports. The survey reported here provides for the first time in 30 years ...Other Research Data -
Traffic counting
(2004)Travel Survey Metadata SeriesRailway traffic counts were observed by Swiss Federal Railway for internal use. In total, passengers were counted on 2377 links on the Swiss railway network during working days. The statistics in this dataset represent the average number of passenger on a working day.Other Research Data -
Data for Kanton Zurich Public Transport Model
(2005)Travel Survey Metadata SeriesThe cantonal transport agency needs for the development and implementation of its long term transport plan a suitable model, which considers all transport modes. Additional to an existing road transport model, the establishment of a model for public transport and the estimation of a mode choice model have the highest priority. The main objectives of this study are * Establishment of a regional public transport model, which is responsive ...Other Research Data -
