Search for Scalar Leptoquarks Produced via τ -Lepton–Quark Scattering in pp Collisions at √s = 13 TeV
(2024)Physical Review LettersThe first search for scalar leptoquarks produced in τ-lepton–quark collisions is presented. It is based on a set of proton-proton collision data recorded with the CMS detector at the LHC at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb⁻¹. The reconstructed final state consists of a jet, significant missing transverse momentum, and a τ lepton reconstructed through its hadronic or leptonic decays. ...Journal Article -

Searches for additional Higgs bosons and for vector leptoquarks in ττ final states in proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV
(2023)Journal of High Energy PhysicsThree searches are presented for signatures of physics beyond the standard model (SM) in ττ final states in proton-proton collisions at the LHC, using a data sample collected with the CMS detector at √s = 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb⁻¹. Upper limits at 95% confidence level (CL) are set on the products of the branching fraction for the decay into τ leptons and the cross sections for the production of a new ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the cross section of top quark-antiquark pair production in association with a W boson in proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV
(2023)Journal of High Energy PhysicsThe production of a top quark-antiquark pair in association with a W boson (t (t) over barW) is measured in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13TeV. The analyzed data was recorded by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb(-1). Events with two or three leptons (electrons and muons) and additional jets are selected. In events with two leptons, a multiclass neural network ...Journal Article -
Azimuthal anisotropy of dijet events in PbPb collisions at √SNN = 5.02 TeV
(2023)Journal of High Energy PhysicsThe path-length dependent parton energy loss within the dense partonic medium created in lead-lead collisions at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of √sNN = 5.02 TeV is studied by determining the azimuthal anisotropies for dijets with high transverse momentum. The data were collected by the CMS experiment in 2018 and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 1.69 nb⁻¹. For events containing back-to-back jets, correlations in relative ...Journal Article -
Search for Higgs boson pairs decaying to WW*WW*, WW*ττ, and ττττ in proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV
(2023)Journal of High Energy PhysicsThe results of a search for Higgs boson pair (HH) production in the WW*WW*, WW*ττ, and ττττ decay modes are presented. The search uses 138 fb⁻¹ of proton-proton collision data recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV from 2016 to 2018. Analyzed events contain two, three, or four reconstructed leptons, including electrons, muons, and hadronically decaying tau leptons. No evidence for a signal is found ...Journal Article -
Search for top squark pair production in a final state with at least one hadronically decaying tau lepton in proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV
(2023)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search for pair production of the supersymmetric partner of the top quark, the top squark, in proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV is presented in final states containing at least one hadronically decaying tau lepton and large missing transverse momentum. This final state is highly sensitive to scenarios of supersymmetry in which the decay of the top squark to tau leptons is enhanced. The search uses a data sample corresponding to ...Journal Article -
Search for long-lived particles using out-of-time trackless jets in proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV
(2023)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search for long-lived particles decaying in the outer regions of the CMS silicon tracker or in the calorimeters is presented. The search is based on a data sample of proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV recorded with the CMS detector at the LHC in 2016–2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb⁻¹. A novel technique, using nearly trackless and out-of-time jet information combined in a deep neural network discriminator, ...Journal Article -
Measurement of inclusive and differential cross sections for single top quark production in association with a W boson in proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV
(2023)Journal of High Energy PhysicsMeasurements of the inclusive and normalised differential cross sections are presented for the production of single top quarks in association with a W boson in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The data used were recorded with the CMS detector at the LHC during 2016–2018, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb⁻¹. Events containing one electron and one muon in the final state are analysed. For the ...Journal Article
