Search for lepton flavour violating decays of the Higgs boson to eττ and eμ in proton–proton collisions at √s = 8 TeV
(2016)Physics Letters BA direct search for lepton flavour violating decays of the Higgs boson (H) in the H→eτ and H→eμ channels is described. The data sample used in the search was collected in proton–proton collisions at s=8 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb−1. No evidence is found for lepton flavour violating decays in either final state. Upper limits on the branching fractions, B(H→eτ)<0.69% and ...Journal Article -
Search for Narrow Resonances Decaying to Dijets in Proton-Proton Collisions at √s=13 TeV
(2016)Physical Review LettersA search for narrow resonances in proton-proton collisions at √s=13 TeV is presented. The invariant mass distribution of the two leading jets is measured with the CMS detector using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.4 fb−1. The highest observed dijet mass is 6.1 TeV. The distribution is smooth and no evidence for resonant particles is observed. Upper limits at 95% confidence level are set on the production cross ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the inclusive jet cross section in pp collisions at √s=2.76TeV
(2016)The European Physical Journal CThe double-differential inclusive jet cross section is measured as a function of jet transverse momentum pTand absolute rapidity |y|, using proton-proton collision data collected with the CMS experiment at the LHC, at a center-of-mass energy of s√=2.76TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.43pb−1. Jets are reconstructed within the pTrange of 74 to 592GeVand the rapidity range |y|<3.0. The reconstructed jet spectrum is ...Journal Article -
Search for dark matter in proton-proton collisions at 8 TeV with missing transverse momentum and vector boson tagged jets
(2016)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search is presented for an excess of events with large missing transverse momentum in association with at least one highly energetic jet, in a data sample of proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb−1 collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The results are interpreted using a set of simplified models for the production of dark matter via a scalar, ...Journal Article -
Search for s channel single top quark production in pp collisions at √s = 7 and 8 TeV
(2016)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search is presented for single top quark production in the s channel in proton-proton collisions with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC in decay modes of the top quark containing a muon or an electron in the final state. The signal is extracted through a maximum-likelihood fit to the distribution of a multivariate discriminant defined using boosted decision trees to separate the expected signal contribution from background processes. The ...Journal Article -
Search for new physics with the M T2 variable in all-jets final states produced in pp collisions at √s=13 TeV
(2016)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search for new physics is performed using events that contain one or more jets, no isolated leptons, and a large transverse momentum imbalance, as measured through the M T2 variable, which is an extension of the transverse mass in events with two invisible particles. The results are based on a sample of proton-proton collisions collected at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC, and that corresponds to an ...Journal Article -
Searches for R-parity-violating supersymmetry in pp collisions at √s=8 TeV in final states with 0–4 leptons
(2016)Physical Review DResults are presented from searches for R-parity-violating supersymmetry in events produced in pp collisions at √s=8 TeV at the LHC. Final states with 0, 1, 2, or multiple leptons are considered independently. The analysis is performed on data collected by the CMS experiment corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.5 fb−1. No excesses of events above the standard model expectations are observed, and 95% confidence level limits ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the top quark mass using charged particles in pp collisions at √s=8 TeV
(2016)Physical Review DA novel technique for measuring the mass of the top quark that uses only the kinematic properties of its charged decay products is presented. Top quark pair events with final states with one or two charged leptons and hadronic jets are selected from the data set of 8 TeV proton-proton collisions, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb−1. By reconstructing secondary vertices inside the selected jets and computing the invariant ...Journal Article -
Search for supersymmetry in pp collisions at √s = 13 TeV in the single-lepton final state using the sum of masses of large-radius jets
(2016)Journal of High Energy PhysicsResults are reported from a search for supersymmetric particles in proton-proton collisions in the final state with a single, high transverse momentum lepton; multiple jets, including at least one b-tagged jet; and large missing transverse momentum. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 2.3 fb−1 at s√=13 TeV, recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The search focuses on processes leading to high jet multiplicities, ...Journal Article -
Search for supersymmetry in pp collisions at √s=8 TeV in final states with boosted W bosons and b jets using razor variables
(2016)Physical Review DA search for supersymmetry in hadronic final states with highly boosted W bosons and b jets is presented, focusing on compressed scenarios. The search is performed using proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV, collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb−1. Events containing candidates for hadronic decays of boosted W bosons are identified using jet substructure ...Journal Article
