Measurement of the mass difference between top quark and antiquark in pp collisions at √s = 8 TeV
(2017)Physics Letter BThe invariance of the standard model (SM) under the CPT transformation predicts equality of particle and antiparticle masses. This prediction is tested by measuring the mass difference between the top quark and antiquark (Δmt=mt−mt) that are produced in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 8TeV, using events with a muon or an electron and at least four jets in the final state. The analysis is based on data corresponding to an ...Journal Article -
Search for resonant tt¯ production in proton-proton collisions at √s=8 TeV
(2016)Physical Review DA search is performed for the production of heavy resonances decaying into top-antitop quark pairs in proton-proton collisions at √s=8 TeV. Data used for the analyses were collected with the CMS detector and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb−1. The search is performed using events with three different final states, defined by the number of leptons (electrons and muons) from the t¯t→WbWb decay. The analyses are optimized ...Journal Article -
Search for supersymmetry with photons in pp collisions at √s = 8 TeV
(2015)Physical Review DTwo searches for physics beyond the standard model in events containing photons are presented. The data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb−1 of proton-proton collisions at √s=8 TeV, collected with the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC. The analyses pursue different inclusive search strategies. One analysis requires at least one photon, at least two jets, and a large amount of transverse momentum imbalance, while ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the muon charge asymmetry in inclusive pp→W+X production at √s = 7 Tev and an improved determination of light parton distribution functions
(2014)Physical Review DMeasurements of the muon charge asymmetry in inclusive pp→W+X production at √s=7 TeV are presented. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 4.7 fb−1 recorded with the CMS detector at the LHC. With a sample of more than 20 million W→μν events, the statistical precision is greatly improved in comparison to previous measurements. These new results provide additional constraints on the parton distribution functions of the ...Journal Article -
Search for new physics in events with same-sign dileptons and jets in pp collisions at √8 = 8 TeV
(2014)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search for new physics is performed based on events with jets and a pair of isolated, same-sign leptons. The results are obtained using a sample of proton-proton collision data collected by the CMS experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.5 fb−1. In order to be sensitive to a wide variety of possible signals beyond the standard model, multiple search regions defined by ...Journal Article -
Search for gluino mediated bottom- and top-squark production in multijet final states in pp collisions at 8 TeV
(2013)Physics Letters BA search for supersymmetry is presented based on events with large missing transverse energy, no isolated electron or muon, and at least three jets with one or more identified as a bottom-quark jet. A simultaneous examination is performed of the numbers of events in exclusive bins of the scalar sum of jet transverse momentum values, missing transverse energy, and bottom-quark jet multiplicity. The sample, corresponding to an integrated ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the W-boson helicity in top-quark decays from tt̅ production in lepton+jets events in pp collisions at √s= 7 TeV
(2013)Journal of High Energy PhysicsThe W-boson helicity fractions in top-quark decays are measured with tt¯ events in the lepton+jets final state, using proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, collected in 2011 with the CMS detector at the LHC. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 5.0 fb−1. The measured fractions of longitudinal, left-, and right-handed helicity are F 0 = 0.682 ± 0.030 (stat.) ± 0.033 (syst.), F L = 0.310 ± 0.022 ...Journal Article -
Search for physics beyond the standard model in events with τ leptons, jets, and large transverse momentum imbalance in pp collisions at √s =7 TeV
(2013)The European Physical Journal CA search for physics beyond the standard model is performed with events having one or more hadronically decaying τ leptons, highly energetic jets, and large transverse momentum imbalance. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 4.98 fb−1 of proton-proton collisions at s√=7 TeV collected with the CMS detector at the LHC in 2011. The number of observed events is consistent with predictions for standard model processes. ...Journal Article -
Search for a narrow, spin-2 resonance decaying to a pair of Z bosons in the qq¯ℓ+ℓ− final state
(2013)Physics Letters BResults are presented from a search for a narrow, spin-2 resonance decaying into a pair of Z bosons, with one Z-boson decaying into leptons (e+e− or μ+μ−) and the other into jets. An example of such a resonance is the Kaluza–Klein graviton, GKK, predicted in Randall–Sundrum models. The analysis is based on a 4.9 fb−1 sample of proton–proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, collected with the CMS detector at the LHC. Kinematic ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the top-quark mass in tt − events with lepton+jets final states in pp collisions at √s =7 TeV
(2012)Journal of High Energy PhysicsThe mass of the top quark is measured using a sample of tt¯ candidate events with one electron or muon and at least four jets in the final state, collected by CMS in pp collisions at s√=7 TeV at the LHC. A total of 5174 candidate events is selected from data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.0 fb−1. For each event the mass is reconstructed from a kinematic fit of the decay products to a tt¯ hypothesis. The top-quark mass is ...Journal Article
