Search for Higgs bosons decaying to WW in e+e- collisions at LEP
(2007)The European Physical Journal CA search for Higgs bosons produced in association with a fermion pair, and decaying to WW, is performed with the data collected by the ALEPH detector at centre-of-mass energies ranging from 191 to 209 GeV. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 453.2 pb-1. Thirteen exclusive selections are developed according to the different final state topologies. No statistically significant evidence for a Higgs boson decaying into a WW ...Journal Article -
Fermion pair production in e+e- collisions at 189-209 GeV and constraints on physics beyond the standard model
(2007)The European Physical Journal CCross sections, angular distributions and forward-backward asymmetries are presented, of two-fermion events produced in e+e- collisions at centre-of-mass energies from 189 to 209 GeV at LEP, measured with the ALEPH detector. Results for e+e-, μ+μ-, τ+τ-, qq̄, bb̄ and cc̄ production are in agreement with the standard model predictions. Constraints are set on scenarios of new physics such as four-fermion contact interactions, leptoquarks, ...Journal Article -
Inclusive D*± meson cross sections and D*±-jet correlations in photoproduction at HERA
(2007)The European Physical Journal CDifferential photoproduction cross sections are measured for events containing D*± mesons. The data were taken with the H1 detector at the ep collider HERA and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 51.1 pb-1. The kinematic region covers small photon virtualities Q2 < 0.01 GeV2 and photon–proton centre-of-mass energies of 171 < Wγ p < 256 GeV. The details of the heavy quark production process are further investigated in events with one ...Journal Article -
Search for baryonic resonances decaying to Ξπ in deep-inelastic scattering at HERA
(2007)The European Physical Journal CA search for narrow baryonic resonances decaying into Ξ-π- or Ξ-π+ and their antiparticles is carried out with the H1 detector using deep inelastic scattering events at HERA in the range of negative photon four-momentum transfer squared 2 < Q2 < 100 GeV2. No signal is observed for a new baryonic state in the mass range 1600–2300 MeV in either the doubly charged or the neutral decay channels. The known Ξ(1530)0 is observed through its decay ...Journal Article -
Inclusive D*± meson and associated dijet production in deep-inelastic scattering at HERA
(2007)The European Physical Journal CInclusive D*± production is measured in deep-inelastic ep scattering at HERA with the H1 detector. In addition, the production of dijets in events with a D*± meson is investigated. The analysis covers values of photon virtuality 2 ≤ Q2 ≤ 100 GeV2 and of inelasticity 0.05≤y≤0.7. Differential cross sections are measured as a function of Q2 and x and of various D*± meson and jet observables. Within the experimental and theoretical uncertainties ...Journal Article -
Cosmic-ray positron fraction measurement from 1 to 30 GeV with AMS-01
(2007)Physics Letters BA measurement of the cosmic ray positron fraction e+ / (e+ + e-) in the energy range of 1-30 GeV is presented. The measurement is based on data taken by the AMS-01 experiment during its 10 day Space Shuttle flight in June 1998. A proton background suppression on the order of 106 is reached by identifying converted bremsstrahlung photons emitted from positrons.Journal Article -
Tests of QCD factorisation in the diffractive production of dijets in deep-inelastic scattering and photoproduction at HERA
(2007)The European Physical Journal CMeasurements are presented of differential dijet cross sections in diffractive photoproduction (Q2<0.01 GeV2) and deep-inelastic scattering processes (DIS, 4<Q2<80 GeV2). The event topology is given by ep→eXY, in which the system X, containing at least two jets, is separated from a leading low-mass baryonic system Y by a large rapidity gap. The dijet cross sections are compared with NLO QCD predictions based on diffractive parton densities ...Journal Article -
Search for the exotic Θ+ resonance in the NOMAD experiment
(2007)The European Physical Journal CA search for exotic Θ+ baryon via Θ+→p+K0 S decay mode in the NOMAD νμN data is reported. The special background generation procedure was developed. The proton identification criteria are tuned to maximize the sensitivity to the Θ+ signal as a function of xF which allows to study the Θ+ production mechanism. We do not observe any evidence for the Θ+ state in the NOMAD data. We provide an upper limit on Θ+ production rate at 90% CL as ...Journal Article -
Diffractive open charm production in deep-inelastic scattering and photoproduction at HERA
(2007)The European Physical Journal CMeasurements are presented of diffractive open charm production at HERA. The event topology is given by ep→eXY where the system X contains at least one charmed hadron and is well separated by a large rapidity gap from a leading low-mass proton remnant system Y. Two analysis techniques are used for the cross section measurements. In the first, the charm quark is tagged by the reconstruction of a D*±(2010) meson. This technique is used in ...Journal Article -
Study of inclusive strange-baryon production and search for pentaquarks in two-photon collisions at LEP
(2007)The European Physical Journal CMeasurements of inclusive production of the Λ, Ξ- and Ξ*(1530) baryons in two-photon collisions with the L3 detector at LEP are presented. The inclusive differential cross sections for Λ and Ξ- are measured as a function of the baryon transverse momentum, pt, and pseudo-rapidity, η. The mean number of Λ, Ξ- and Ξ*(1530) baryons per hadronic two-photon event is determined in the kinematic range 0.4 GeV<pt<2.5 GeV, |η|<1.2. Overall agreement ...Journal Article
