Measurement of the W+W- cross section in pp collisions at √s= 8 TeV and limits on anomalous gauge couplings
(2016)The European Physical Journal CA measurement of the W boson pair production cross section in proton-proton collisions at s√=8 TeV is presented. The data collected with the CMS detector at the LHC correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.4fb-1. The W+W− candidates are selected from events with two charged leptons, electrons or muons, and large missing transverse energy. The measured W+W− cross section is 60.1±0.9(stat)±3.2(exp)±3.1(theo)±1.6(lumi)\,pb=60.1±4.8\,pb, ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the ratio B(B0s→J/ψf0(980))/B(B0s→J/ψφ(1020)) in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV
(2016)Physics Letters BA measurement of the ratio of the branching fractions of the Bs0 meson to J/ψf0(980) and to J/ψϕ(1020) is presented. The J/ψ, f0(980), and ϕ(1020) are observed through their decays to μ+μ−, π+π−, and K+K−, respectively. The f0 and the ϕ are identified by requiring |Mπ+π−−974 MeV|<50 MeV and |MK+K−−1020 MeV|<10 MeV. The analysis is based on a data sample of pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, collected by the CMS experiment ...Journal Article -
A search for pair production of new light bosons decaying into muons
(2016)Physics Letters BA search for the pair production of new light bosons, each decaying into a pair of muons, is performed with the CMS experiment at the LHC, using a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.7 fb-1 collected in proton–proton collisions at center-of-mass energy of √s 0 8TeV. No excess is observed in the data relative to standard model background expectation and a model independent upper limit on the product of the cross section, ...Journal Article -
Measurement of differential cross sections for Higgs boson production in the diphoton decay channel in pp collisions at √s = 8 TeV
(2016)The European Physical Journal CA measurement is presented of differential cross sections for Higgs boson (H) production in pp collisions at s√=8 TeV. The analysis exploits the H→γγ decay in data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7fb-1 collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The cross section is measured as a function of the kinematic properties of the diphoton system and of the associated jets. Results corrected for detector effects are compared with ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the inelastic cross section in proton–lead collisions at √sNN= 5.02 TeV
(2016)Physics Letters BThe inelastic hadronic cross section in proton–lead collisions at a centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of 5.02 TeV is measured with the CMS detector at the LHC. The data sample, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of L=12.6±0.4 nb−1, has been collected with an unbiased trigger for inclusive particle production. The cross section is obtained from the measured number of proton–lead collisions with hadronic activity produced in the ...Journal Article -
Search for neutral MSSM Higgs bosons decaying to μ+μ− in pp collisions at √s = 7 and 8 TeV
(2016)Physics Letters BA search for neutral Higgs bosons predicted in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) for μ+μ- decay channels is presented. The analysis uses data collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC in proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 5.1 and 19.3 fb-1, respectively. The search is sensitive to Higgs bosons produced either through the gluon fusion process or ...Journal Article -
Search for W ' decaying to tau lepton and neutrino in proton-proton collisions at √s=8 TeV
(2016)Physics Letters BThe first search for a heavy charged vector boson in the final state with a tau lepton and a neutrino is reported, using 19.7 fb-1 of LHC data at s=8 TeV. A signal would appear as an excess of events with high transverse mass, where the standard model background is low. No excess is observed. Limits are set on a model in which the W' decays preferentially to fermions of the third generation. These results substantially extend previous ...Journal Article -
Search for new phenomena in monophoton final states in proton–proton collisions at √s=8TeV
(2016)Physics Letters BResults are presented from a search for new physics in final states containing a photon and missing transverse momentum. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.6 fb−1 collected in proton–proton collisions at s=8 TeV with the CMS experiment at the LHC. No deviation from the standard model predictions is observed for these final states. New, improved limits are set on dark matter production and on parameters of models with ...Journal Article -
Inclusive and differential measurements of the t¯t charge asymmetry in pp collisions at √s=8TeV
(2016)Physics Letters BThe tt¯ charge asymmetry is measured in proton–proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV. The data, collected with the CMS experiment at the LHC, correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb−1. Selected events contain an electron or a muon and four or more jets, where at least one jet is identified as originating from b-quark hadronization. The inclusive charge asymmetry is found to be 0.0010±0.0068 (stat)±0.0037 (syst). ...Journal Article -
Search for exotic decays of a Higgs boson into undetectable particles and one or more photons
(2016)Physics Letters BA search is presented for exotic decays of a Higgs boson into undetectable particles and one or two isolated photons in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of up to 19.4 fb−1 collected with the CMS detector at the LHC. Higgs bosons produced in gluon–gluon fusion and in association with a Z boson are investigated, using models in which the Higgs boson decays into a gravitino ...Journal Article
