Measurement of prompt and nonprompt charmonium suppression in PbPb collisions at 5.02 TeV
(2018)The European Physical Journal CThe nuclear modification factors of J/ψ and ψ(2S) mesons are measured in PbPb collisions at a centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of sNN−−−√=5.02TeV. The analysis is based on PbPb and pp data samples collected by CMS at the LHC in 2015, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 464μb−1 and 28pb-1, respectively. The measurements are performed in the dimuon rapidity range of |y|<2.4 as a function of centrality, rapidity, and transverse ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the ratio of the production cross sections times branching fractions of Bc ±→ J/ψπ± and B± → J/ψK± and (Formula presented.) in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV
(2015)Journal of High Energy Physicshe ratio of the production cross sections times branching fractions (σ(B±c)B(B±c→J/ψπ±))/(σ(B±)B(B±→J/ψK±)) is studied in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC. The kinematic region investigated requires B c ± and B± mesons with transverse momentum p T > 15 GeV and rapidity |y| < 1.6. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 5.1 fb−1. The ratio is determined to be ...Journal Article -
Search for single production of vector-like quarks decaying to a b quark and a Higgs boson
(2018)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search is presented for single production of heavy vector-like quarks (B) that decay to a Higgs boson and a b quark, with the Higgs boson decaying to a highly boosted bb¯¯¯ pair reconstructed as a single collimated jet. The analysis is based on data collected by the CMS experiment in proton-proton collisions at s√=13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb−1. The data are consistent with background expectations, and ...Journal Article -
Search for Heavy Neutral Leptons in Events with Three Charged Leptons in Proton-Proton Collisions at s =13 TeV
(2018)Physical Review LettersA search for a heavy neutral lepton N of Majorana nature decaying into a W boson and a charged lepton is performed using the CMS detector at the LHC. The targeted signature consists of three prompt charged leptons in any flavor combination of electrons and muons. The data were collected in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, with an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb−1. The search is performed in the N mass range ...Journal Article -
Observation of Electroweak Production of Same-Sign W Boson Pairs in the Two Jet and Two Same-Sign Lepton Final State in Proton-Proton Collisions at root s=13 TeV
(2018)Physical Review LettersThe first observation of electroweak production of same-sign W boson pairs in proton-proton collisions is reported. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb−1 collected at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC. Events are selected by requiring exactly two leptons (electrons or muons) of the same charge, moderate missing transverse momentum, and two jets with a large rapidity ...Journal Article -
Measurement of the top quark pair production cross section in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV in dilepton final states containing a τ
(2012)Physical Review DThe top quark pair production cross section is measured in dilepton events with one electron or muon, and one hadronically decaying τ lepton from the decay t¯t→(ℓνℓ)(τhντ)b¯b, (ℓ=e,μ). The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 2.0 fb−1 for the electron channel and 2.2 fb−1 for the muon channel, collected by the CMS detector at the LHC. This is the first measurement of the t¯t cross section explicitly including τ leptons ...Journal Article -
Performance of τ-lepton reconstruction and identification in CMS
(2012)Journal of InstrumentationThe performance of τ-lepton reconstruction and identification algorithms is studied using a data sample of proton-proton collisions at √s = 7 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb−1 collected with the CMS detector at the LHC. The τ leptons that decay into one or three charged hadrons, zero or more short-lived neutral hadrons, and a neutrino are identified using final-state particles reconstructed in the CMS tracker and ...Journal Article -
Search for a heavy resonance decaying to a top quark and a vector-like top quark at √s=13 TeV
(2017)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search is presented for massive spin-1 Z′ resonances decaying to a top quark and a heavy vector-like top quark partner T. The search is based on a 2.6 fb−1 sample of proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV collected with the CMS detector at the LHC. The analysis is optimized for final states in which the T quark decays to a W boson and a bottom quark. The focus is on all-jet final states in which both the W boson and the top quark decay into ...Journal Article -
Search for a light pseudoscalar Higgs boson produced in association with bottom quarks in pp collisions at √s=8 TeV
(2017)Journal of High Energy PhysicsA search for a light pseudoscalar Higgs boson (A) produced in association with bottom quarks and decaying into a muon pair is reported. The search uses 19.7 fb−1 of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV, collected by the CMS experiment. No signal is observed in the dimuon mass range from 25 to 60 GeV. Upper limits on the cross section times branching fraction, σ(pp→bb¯¯¯A)B(A→μμ), are set.Journal Article
