Measurement of the running of the electromagnetic coupling at large momentum-transfer at LEP
(2005)Physics Letters BThe evolution of the electromagnetic coupling, α, in the momentum-transfer range 1800 GeV2 < -Q2 < 21600 GeV2 is studied with about 40 000 Bhabha-scattering events collected with the L3 detector at LEP at centre-of-mass energies √s = 189-209 GeV. Neutral-current four-fermion production in e+e- interactions at LEP
(2005)Physics Letters BNeutral-current four-fermion production, e+e -→ff̄f′f̄′, is studied in 0.7 fb -1 of data collected with the L3 detector at LEP at centre-of-mass energies s=183-209 GeV. Four final states are considered: qq̄νν̄ , qq̄ℓ+ℓ-, ℓ+ℓ-ℓ′+ℓ′- and ℓ+ℓ-νν̄, where ℓ denotes either an electron or a muon. Measurement of the cross section of W-boson pair production at LEP
(2004)Physics Letters BThe cross section of W-boson pair-production is measured with the L3 detector at LEP. In a data sample corresponding to a total luminosity of 629.4 pb−1, collected at centre-of-mass energies ranging from 189 to 209 GeV, 9834 four-fermion events with W bosons decaying into hadrons or leptons are selected. Measurement of the atmospheric muon spectrum from 20 to 3000 GeV
(2004)Physics Letters BThe absolute muon flux between 20 and 3000 GeV is measured with the L3 magnetic muon spectrometer for zenith angles ranging from 0°to 58°. Search for anomalous couplings in the Higgs sector at LEP
(2004)Physics Letters BAnomalous couplings of the Higgs boson are searched for through the processes e+e-→Hγ, e+e -→e+e-H and e+e -→HZ. The mass range 70 GeV<mH<190 GeV is explored using 602 pb-1 of integrated luminosity collected with the L3 detector at LEP at centre-of-mass energies s=189-209 GeV. Single- and multi-photon events with missing energy in e+e- collisions at LEP
(2004)Physics Letters BSingle- and multi-photon events with missing energy are selected in 619 pb−1 of data collected by the L3 detector at LEP at centre-of-mass energies between 189 and 209 GeV. The cross sections of the process e+e−→ν ̄νγ (γ ) are found to be in agreement with the Standard Model expectations, and the number of light neutrino species is determined, including lower energy data, to be Nν=2.98±0.05±0.04. Flavor Independent Search for Neutral Higgs Bosons at LEP
(2004)Physics Letters BA flavour independent search for the CP-even and CP-odd neutral Higgs bosons h and A is performed in 624 pb−1 of data collected with the L3 detector at LEP at centre-of-mass energies between 189 and 209 GeV. Search for Color Singlet and Color Reconnection Effects in Hadronic Z Decays at LEP
(2004)Physics Letters BA search is performed in symmetric 3-jet hadronic Z-decay events for evidence of colour singlet production or colour reconnection effects. Asymmetries in the angular separation of particles are found to be sensitive indicators of such effects. Upper limits on the level of colour singlet production or of colour reconnection effects are established for a variety of models.Journal Article -
Search for scalar letpons and scalar quarks at LEP
(2004)Physics Letters BScalar partners of quarks and leptons, predicted in supersymmetric models, are searched for in e+e− collisions at centre-of-mass energies between 192 and 209 GeV at LEP. No evidence for any such particle is found in a data sample of 450 pb−1. Upper limits on their production cross sections are set and lower limits on their masses are derived in the framework of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model.Journal Article
