Principal features (master curve) of geomagnetic field variations in Belorussia during the last 12 thousand years
(2005)Russian Journal of Earth SciencesThis paper presents the results of the paleomagnetic studies of the Naroch and Svir lake bottom deposits in Belorussia. The objects of study were nine columns of lake-floor sediments, totaling 6.50 m in thickness, collected using a special-type core sampler which did not disturb the structure of the sample material. The absolute dating of the sediments was performed by a radiocarbon method using the macroremains of the organic matter ...Journal Article -
Propuesta metodológica para la caracterización de la mineralogía magnética en estudios paleoambientales. Aplicación al yacimiento de Atapuerca
(2003)GeogacetaA methodology is proposed, which gives information about the contents of ferrimagnetic and antiferromagnetic minerals with different domain structure in soils and sediments. Isothermal remanent magnetisation (lRM) acquired and measured both at room temperature and at low temperature (77K) provides data which define a set of new parameters: ARMlc provides information about the fraction of superparamagnetic ferrimagnetics in the studied ...Journal Article -
Magnetostratigraphy of stratotype section of the Neogene Xiejian stage
(2006)Journal of StratigraphyPaleomagnetic measurements of the Xiejia section demonstrate that the stratotype of the Neogene Xiejian Stage in China records 18 normal and 17 reversed polarity zones. These polarity zones corresponded very well to the polarity zones between C5Bn.2n and C7n.1n in the time scale of Lourens et al. (2004). We use inter-interposition method to calculate the age. The geological age of the Xiejia Formation is 17.32—21.58 Ma. It was dated between ...Journal Article -
Sedimentary Environment of Tertiary Recorded in the Yongdeng Section of Lanzhou Basin
(2003)Acta Sedimentologica SinicaWith the result of chronological research, sedimentology has been used to study the Tertiary sediments of Yongdeng Section of Lanzhou Basin and analyzed the changes of sedimentary environment and climate since Cenozoic.A set of fan delta deposits formed from the late Paleocene to early Eocene is red sandstone with crossstratification. The age of upper layers is about 51Ma.Great environmental changes took place in Lanzhou area at 51MaB.P.,which ...Journal Article -
Grain size distribution and magnetic characteristics of dust fall in Beijing on April 17, 2006
(2008)Quaternary SciencesGrain size analysis and magnetic method were applied to detect the characteristics of Beijing dust fall on April 17,2006.Similar to others deposition of modern aerosol,Beijing dust fall magnetic susceptibility is higher than the values of glacial loess.Day-plot,which compares the Beijing dust fall with a number of loess/paleosol samples from the central and west Loess Plateau, shows that Beijing dust fall is close to material from the ...Journal Article -
A biomimetic climbing robot based on the gecko
(2006)Journal of Bionic EngineeringThe excellent climbing performance of the gecko is inspiring engineers and researchers for the design of artificial systems aimed at moving on vertical surfaces. Climbing robots could perform many useful tasks such as surveillance, inspection, repair, cleaning, and exploration. This paper presents and discusses the design, fabrication, and evaluation of two climbing robots which mimic the gait of the gecko. The first robot is designed ...Journal Article -
Vision-based feedback strategy for controlled pushing of microparticles
(2008)Journal of Micro-Nano MechatronicsA strategy for controlled pushing is presented for microassembly of 4.5μm polystyrene particles on a flat glass substrate using an atomic force microscope probe tip. Real-time vision based feedback from a CCD camera mounted to a high resolution optical microscope is used to track particle positions relative to the tip and target position. Tip–particle system is modeled in 2D as a non-holonomic differential drive robot. Effectiveness of ...Journal Article -

Coupled rotation within single F₀F₁ enzyme complexes during ATP synthesis or hydrolysis
(2002)FEBS LettersF0F1 ATP synthases are the smallest rotary motors in nature and work as ATP factories in bacteria, plants and animals. Here we report on the first observation of intersubunit rotation in fully coupled single F0F1 molecules during ATP synthesis or hydrolysis. We investigate the Na+-translocating ATP synthase of Propionigenium modestum specifically labeled by a single fluorophore at one c subunit using polarization-resolved confocal microscopy. ...Journal Article
