Abstract
Show more
Lenticular color film is an early color motion picture technology based on coding color information as spatial intensity patterns and recording these in a panchromatic emulsion. Conventional restoration of such film relies on playback requiring special optical equipment, in particular a color filter identical to the one used for recording. We have developed a digital color reconstruction procedure employing a modern high resolution film scanner and a special image processing software that we developed for this purpose. This approach is very flexible both with respect to the particular type of lenticular color film as well as the degree of restoration. We report first reconstruction results from four early films by Walther Bever-Mohr. Show more
