Abstract
We derive random-coding/binning error exponents for block source coding for finite-state sources. Specifically, our derivation accounts for a mismatch in the finite-state source model, recovers known special cases and provides an achievable rate, the generalized entropy rate, that quantifies the loss in rate with respect to the entropy rate induced by mismatch.
