Finite-volume Maxwellian absorber on unstructured Grid
(2006)2006 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium DigestA novel finite-volume time-domain (FVTD) model for the Maxwellian absorber is presented to aid numerical simulations on unstructured grid. In the present approach all the electromagnetic (EM) field quantities are co-located in both space and time. Theoretical development of the co-located FVTD formulation and a practical application of the Maxwellian absorber as an unsplit perfectly matched layer (PML) for waveguide problems are presented. ...Conference Paper -
Continuous Tunable Phase Shifter Based on Injection Locked Local Oscillators at 30 GHz
(2006)2006 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium DigestInjection locking is used to achieve a continuous tunable phase shift over 280deg at 30 GHz. By locking a free running VCO at 15 GHz to an external reference source and doubling the output signal a very linear phase tuning range can be achieved. A phase noise of -117 dBc/Hz and -140 dBc/Hz at 100 KHz and 1 MHz offset frequency, respectively, have been measured. The prototype phase shifter is build on high epsiv r = 10.2 RT/Duroid substrate ...Conference Paper -
A detailed investigation of UTC traveling wave photodetectors
(2006)2006 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium DigestEffects of the absorber's thickness on the UTC TWPD's performance are investigated. This is an important parameter because it affects both external efficiency and the bandwidth of the device. The analysis of the photodetectors is done using a hybrid drift-diffusion-TLM method, which takes into consideration both, carrier dynamics and RF propagation characteristics. To improve the external efficiency of the UTC TWPD, a thicker absorber is ...Conference Paper -
A 128 X 128 120db 30mw asynchronous vision sensor that responds to relative intensity change
(2006)Digest of Technical Papers / IEEE International Solid State Circuits Conference ~ 2006 IEEE International Solid State Circuits Conference (ISSCC)A vision sensor responds to temporal contrast with asynchronous output. Each pixel independently and continuously quantizes changes in log intensity. The 128X128-pixel chip has 120dB illumination operating range and consumes 30mW. Pixels respond in <100mus at 1klux scene illumination with <10% contrast-threshold FPN.Conference Paper -
A DC-to-44-GHz 19dB Gain Amplifier in 90nm CMOS Using Capacitive Bandwidth Enhancement
(2006)Digest of Technical Papers / IEEE International Solid State Circuits Conference ~ 2006 IEEE International Solid State Circuits Conference (ISSCC)A DC-to-44GHz amplifier with 19dB differential gain in a standard 90nm CMOS technology is presented. Capacitive bandwidth and group-delay enhancements are combined with series peaking in a shunt-peaking amplifier. The circuit occupies 0.02mm 2 and dissipates 57mW at 1V.Conference Paper -
Dead-end injection molding of polymeric microcantilever arrays
(2005)Digest of Technical Papers ~ The 13th International Conference on Solid-State Sensors, Actuators and Microsystems (TRANSDUCERS'05)This paper describes a novel fabrication technique for polymer-based microcantilever arrays in elastomer molds. The technique relies on the gas permeation of mold materials such as poly(dimethyl siloxane) (PDMS), which could be shown to allow dead-end filling of the mold without remaining air pockets. The PDMS master mold for the cantilever array was replicated from a photostructured SU-8 layer. A photocurable epoxy was used to produce ...Conference Paper
