Towards geoprivacy guidelines for spatial data
(2018)Adjunct Proceedings of the 14th International Conference on Location Based ServicesThis paper proposes an approach towards practical privacy guidelines for the different stages of a research effort that collects and/or uses “sensitive” spatial data. Specifically, we focus on: a) initial tasks as prior to starting a survey, b) storing, anonymization, and assessment of datasets, and c) actions to eliminate disclosure from published data and deliverables or when datasets are shared with third parties.Conference Paper -
Using a Dynamic Sensor Network to Obtain Spatiotemporal Data in an Urban Environment
(2018)Adjunct Proceedings of the 14th International Conference on Location Based ServicesAlong with the rise of the smart city movement, Internet of Things is an upcoming phenomenon. Objects and devices are becoming more and more wirelessly interconnected, communicating information between themselves and to human beings. As an addition to static sensor networks that gather real-time environmental data, the feasibility of implementing a dynamic sensor network based on LoRa communication is researched. To achieve such a dynamic ...Conference Paper -
Quantifying Local Spatial Properties through LiDAR-based Isovists for an Evaluation of Opinion-based VGI in a VR Setup
(2018)Adjunct Proceedings of the 14th International Conference on Location Based ServicesWe aim to link VGI that expresses subjective opinions about a location to its spatial configuration. We present an approach to quantify the location’s spatial configuration by generating highly precise isovists based on LiDAR scans. The representativeness of opinion-based VGI and their relation the local spatial configuration can be tested in a VR setup in the lab. Further applications of LiDAR-based isovists are discussed.Conference Paper -
Probability Based Location Referencing Method – Statistical Evaluations and Estimated Probability Distributions
(2018)Adjunct Proceedings of the 14th International Conference on Location Based ServicesDynamic Location Referencing Methods are typically used for transferring location references from one map to another in such cases where no common databases and/or common structures are available. This paper describes the statistical evaluations and estimated probability distributions to be used in a “Probability Based Dynamic Location Referencing Method”. To obtain them, several random samples for specific criteria/attributes have been ...Conference Paper -
A Topological Structure for Ubiquitous and Mobile GIS with its Possible Application
(2018)Adjunct Proceedings of the 14th International Conference on Location Based ServicesThe widespread deployment of wireless network, mobile computing and positioning devices is pushing Location Based Services toward the era of ubiquitous and ambient intelligence. This article attends to provide a paradigm to treat objects in such information environments. An idea based on space and time partitioning is suggested. A logic-based framework for representing and reasoning about qualitative spatial relations over moving objects ...Conference Paper -
Grid Referencing of Buildings
(2018)Adjunct Proceedings of the 14th International Conference on Location Based ServicesThere are many different ways to reference locations within a building, such as the use of building numbers, room numbers, floor levels, latitude and longitude, and simple XYZ Cartesian coordinates [1, 4]. Some of these rely on semantic definitions, others on physical measurements, while yet others on a combination of both. When trying to integrate these various different systems, it can sometimes help to use a single intermediary system. ...Conference Paper -
A Multi-Objective Airport Service Cars Location/Allocation Problem with Spatiotemporal constraints
(2018)Adjunct Proceedings of the 14th International Conference on Location Based ServicesThe continuous growth of air traffic implies an increase of the number of vehicles that provide service to aircrafts. Increasing traffic in airport causes decreasing efficiency of airport operations and need to improve service operations. Location-allocation models are improved in two ways: 1) the allocation rule is developed to more accurately reflect customer choice processes; and 2) the objective function is developed to incorporate ...Conference Paper -
Integrating Existing Indoor Navigational Aids into Data Modelling and Route Planning
(2018)Adjunct Proceedings of the 14th International Conference on Location Based ServicesIn this paper, we propose a concept of providing indoor navigation services by integrating existing navigational aids. We firstly conducted an in-situ experiment in two buildings with human subjects performing wayfinding tasks. The results suggested that people naturally refer to existing indoor navigational aids during navigating and signs were the most frequently used aids. We then integrated signs with their semantics into a graph-based ...Conference Paper -
Mobile Decision Support for Yellow-Spined Bamboo Locust Plague Intervention in Lao PDR
(2018)Adjunct Proceedings of the 14th International Conference on Location Based ServicesLocation-based services and crowdsourced applications provide support for governments and other groups for plague and small disaster intervention. In this work in progress paper we report on an extension of the Mobile4D application to aid the government of Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) in dealing with the current yellow-spined bamboo locust plague. That is, we introduce the general project and approach, the Mobile4D application ...Conference Paper -
Similarity Measure of Trajectories Using Contextual Information and Fuzzy Approach
(2018)Adjunct Proceedings of the 14th International Conference on Location Based ServicesStudying moving-point objects behaviors and analyzing their trajectories have received great attention to the geographic information science community recently. Because movements of objects are embedded in contexts, their trajectories are influenced by such contexts. This paper contextualizes the similarity measure of trajectories by not only their spatial footprints but also a notion of internal and external contexts. To this end, a ...Conference Paper
